Thomas Associates is seeking a Senior Workplace Project Architect with a wealth of experience (10+ years) in interior architecture to join our dynamic team. This role centers on providing essential design support to bring design concepts to fruition. As a seasoned architect, you will excel in preparing schematic and design development drawings, tackling design challenges, exploring various design avenues, and managing projects through the construction phase. Your extensive history of collaborating with contractors will be crucial. Working closely with our team, you'll demonstrate your commitment to delivering high-quality results within deadlines, meeting and surpassing our clients' expectations. This role involves expertly navigating technical and design intricacies to ensure smooth progress and top-notch quality. Communication proficiency will be vital in fostering coordination between the project team and consultants, ensuring adherence to building codes, budgets, and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee multiple tasks, including client interaction, project coordination, and collaboration with general contractors, encompassing thorough documentation coordination with sub-consultants such as structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape, and civil consultants.
  • Foster strong client relationships and facilitate effective team communication.
  • Tackle complex technical and design challenges head-on, finding innovative solutions.
  • Maintain project schedules, briefs, and specifications to ensure project integrity.
  • Conduct on-site observations and meticulously document site reviews.
  • Manage processes like submittals, RFIs, and substitution requests throughout the construction phase.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers, contributing to their professional growth.
  • Actively participate in office culture and initiatives.
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of ESG, sustainable, and universal design concepts.
  • Exhibit robust leadership, organizational prowess, and exceptional communication and relationship management skills.
  • Showcase a strong commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices, with a portfolio featuring at least one project focused on this aspect. Familiarity with certifications like LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwell, and Net Zero Building is highly desired.

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture (B.Arch)
  • Proficiency in SketchUp, senior architect, Architecture, REVIT, 3Ds Max
  • Strong grasp of design concepts, conceptualization, interior architecture, project scheduling, relationship management, and civil engineering
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders effectively
  • Exceptional project coordination skills
